Coptic Remarriage Controversy Goes Away

The judicial decision ordering the Coptic Church to recognize remarriages after divorce, contradicting the Church's teaching, had been a festering issue between the Church and the Egyptian state and one which, because it attracted the attention of Copts abroad, had a lot of potential for emnarrassment of the regime. (See the link for my original discussion.) The state was and presumahly still is moving towards revising personal status laws to fix the issue, but now an even quicker solution has emerged: the Supreme Constitutional Court has overturned the ruling, overriding the Supreme Administrative Court. (Although some reports suggest this may be a temporary stay of some sort.)
