The Tears of Isis Created the Nile Flood

Today's violence pretty much ends the hope of a "soft landing." I doubt if it will save the regime at this point. I'm feeling under the weather but will have more later.

I'd really expected something like this on Saturday or Sunday. My date eight post isn't up yet over at the other site, but basically, I'd really hoped that this was a damp squib.

Of course, violence today means that we're headed for, well, what, a deposition by the Army at best? With no international allies and Al-Wafd hugging AlBaradei, it seems a little late for hanging on to power. This sort of heavy-handedness appears to be pushing European governments entirely the wrong direction for him to survive.
